Hillingdon Youth Council

Hillingdon Youth Council - Our brand new website is launched

What is the Youth Council?

The Youth Council is the voice for young people who live, study or work in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

We meet together to discuss issues that are important to us, organise conferences, social events, residentials and day trips.

We hope to make a difference to the lives of young people in the borough by influencing decisions made that affect us.

We aim to be a body that is representative of young people across the borough regardless of their gender, ethnicity, religious or political beliefs.

How often do we meet?

The Youth Council meet every week, or according to demand, at the Civic Centre, High Street, Uxbridge

Some of the activities in which we are involved:

We hold conferences where Hillingdon's young people can voice their concerns to local MPs and Councillors.

We attend various training courses, e.g. we went on a training week end in France to learn how to organise a youth exchange.

We support the UK Youth Parliament and hold annual elections to elect MYPs (Members of Youth Parliament)

We carry out various projects that deal with particular topics such as crime and the environment.

We meet with other Youth Councils, resulting in shared events.

We attend various conferences such as Westminster Day.

The Youth Council are available for consultations with Council departments or other groups who would like to hear the opinions of young people.

We are also willing to undertake research and consultation with young people across the borough.
